Thursday lectures - Resources for Wellbeing

When change or upheaval occurs in our life, it may seem as if we have no control over what is happening or over our own wellbeing. However, within ourselves we have a vast capacity to build our resilience on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.

Jan Alcoe presents some tools for experiencing the world in ways which have proven benefits for our wellbeing, including:
  • preventing illness
  • getting on top of worry, anxiety and stress
  • developing a positive and creative approach to all aspects of living
  • deepening spiritual awareness and connection.

Jan Alcoe is a writer and facilitator in health and social care and Training and Publishing Consultant to The Janki Foundation for Global Health Care (JF).  She was principal editor of JF’s Values in healthcare:  a spiritual approach.  Recently, while undergoing treatment for cancer, Jan used the tools in this programme for her own sustenance and self-healing and was inspired to write Lifting Your Spirits: Seven Tools for Coping with Illness (JF, 2008). She is now working on a new JF/British Holistic Medical Association publication to help people support and enhance their well-being, and her talk will draw on this new material.
